Best Places to Stay in Lanzarote Mar 02

There are some great accommodation options for anyone planning a holiday on the popular Canary Island of Lanzarote. With hundreds of hotels, apartment complexes and villas for visitors to select from.

After Tenerife and Gran Canaria Lanzarote is the third most popular destination in the chain with holidaymakers and has long been a hot favourite with visitors from the UK and Eire.  Thanks to the fact that it boasts great weather all year round with a journey time of just four hours.  Making this the closest winter sun destination to these countries.

But Lanzarote is equally popular during the summer months too – thanks to the fact that it offers loads for tourists to do and see and is home to close to one hundred great beaches.

There are over 200 hotels in Lanzarote – with the bulk of the best four stars concentrated at the southern tip of the island in a resort called Playa Blanca.  Which takes its name from the small white beach that still lies at its heart.   Playa Blanca is in fact well known for the quality of its beaches as there are some great stretches of sand here whilst the all natural coves and bays of Papagayo are just a fifteen minute walk from the resort centre.

Over the last decade the rise of the Internet and computing has created a massive increase in demand for good quality privately owned holiday rental properties.  And there are now hundreds of apartments and villas in Lanzarote available for rent – often at prices way below the sort of rates found on other Spanish islands such as Majorca and Ibiza.

In Playa Blanca for example it is possible to book two bedroom villa with a private pool from just €350 per week.  Whilst a studio apartment on a popular complex will cost from €180 per week.

Flights to the island are also cheaper than ever before thanks to the fact that a number of the best known low cost airlines now compete on this route.  Offering returns from all major UK airports at a fraction of the cost of a few years ago.

Lanzarote´s raw, natural beauty often surprises first time visitors.  No more so than in and around the volcanic region – which is surreal and dramatic.  Created by very large eruptions which rocked the island during the 18th and 19th century.  Visiting Lanzarote without viewing the Timanfaya Volcano Park would be like going to Paris and ignoring the Eiffel Tower.  As this is a real must see attraction for any tourist.
