Travel Insurance For Diabetics Oct 31
If you have a pre-existing condition and you want to travel it can sometimes be problematic in getting travel insurance. Insurers do not like to take calculated risks so they need to know if there is a likelihood that your condition could result in you needing medical assistance whilst you are abroad.

One such condition which is becoming increasingly common is diabetes. This can be a mild form which can be managed by diet or it could be insulin dependant diabetes where you are required to take regular injections. In either case you will need to make sure your travel insurer is aware of your condition. If you fail to notify the insurer of a diagnosed condition your insurance policy will not be valid and will not cover you if you need to make a claim.

Very often when you book a holiday with a travel agent they will often offer you a travel insurance policy. Be aware that these are often very basic policies and will be unlikely to cover all but the very standard traveller. If you have a medical condition, are going on a more exotic holiday or are an older traveller then you will more than likely need a more substantial insurance policy.

There are insurers that can provide diabetics with travel insurance for diabetics. A specialist insurer is much more likely to get you a better deal on your holiday cover and provide you with a policy that will cover you for any medical eventualities.

Every year thousands of people fly from UK airports to destinations all around the world. Some travellers may not realise that they need to make their insurer aware of any medical conditions. One of the reasons that you need to be honest is that if you do fall ill and need repatriating then the doctor who will fly over to bring you back will need to know what if any medical equipment they may need to bring.

Getting a policy does not have to be prohibitively expensive or stop you from travelling and enjoying a holiday. Insurers do have to cover themselves and therefore price policies according to the likelihood of a claim being made and the cost of such resulting claims.

Your insurer will want to know that you are as prepared as you can be for your condition. Being specialist insurers they can also advise you of things that you can do or may need to know about as a diabetic travelling abroad and provide invaluable advice.

Cheap Tickets and Cheap Flights Oct 21
Are you tired of spending a ton of cash on your airline tickets? I am to that is why I want to share with you the way I find cheap tickets and cheap flights on all of my favorite airlines. The best way to get a cheap ticket is to be ready to take a trip on very little notice. The airlines will begin to drop their fares on all of their flights as it gets closer to the flight day. This is only good if you are alright with changing around the trip you want since the flight could sell out while you are letting the time tick down along with the airfare. Search the web for places that let you know the rates of the flights offered by a number of airlines. Look at the bottom of this article to find the best places for cheap tickets and cheap flights. We scour the internet looking for the right deals for you. Back to the topic at hand.

These websites track the airfares and communicate with the airlines to learn the lowest cost the airline will take for a seat on a particular flight. The reason this can happen is that the flights cost a certain amount to begin with and the airline will slowly discount the rates if the flight is not sold out so that they can offset the flight cost as much as they can. The bottom line is that if they get half the price for a seat that is better than the seat being empty since their cost is still there no matter how many people are flying the plane.

I find that air miles on a credit card is another way to get discounted airfares. You spend money to live anyway so why not allow the credit card company to give you free flights in the process. The best part is that they cost you nothing when you redeem them so if you are low on cash at any given time this does not mean you cannot take a trip and use the miles. These are the best invention in the airline industry since the actual plane.

Use these two tips to save tons of money on all of your air travel needs. Stop by and let us know how they work for you.

Make Money From Your Adventure Travel (Part One) Oct 20
What if you could not only cut the cost of your next adventure vacation, but turn a profit from your travel as well? Even better, what if you could turn your adventure travel into a high-income business?

If this sounds too good to be true, let me just say that many people do this every day. Yes it takes work, and planning and persistence (the very things required to succeed in any endeavor in life) and don’t expect to get rich. But you can expect to become a high earner and get paid to travel the world – not a bad way to live if you ask me.

There are many ways to make money when you travel, but for now I am going to focus on the big three: 1) Travel photography, 2) Travel writing, and 3) Importing items abroad to be sold on online auction sites.

In this first article, I am going to concentrate on travel photography.

Digital cameras have revolutionized the world of photography and have opened the doors of profit to average people.

With digital cameras, you do not have the expense of film to buy. Aside from the obvious benefit of lowering your costs to enter this field, no films also means you can practice your skills over and over again. Take a look at the photos shot by teenagers on their camera phones that they post on their blogs. You will see some very advanced skill levels on these blogs. In years past, these skills would have taken years to acquire, but with digital cameras the learning curve is much steeper. Another advance in digital photography is the fact that they can now be displayed, sold and transmitted online. An amateur can set up a small website to display his or her photographs and be in business over night.

But what kinds of photos are most saleable to the adventure traveler? Here is a brief list of ideas I came up with, but you should not limit yourself to my ideas. Study magazines like National Geographic or other travel publications and look at what subject they buy and publish.

What to photograph when you travel abroad, in order to sell your pictures later:

Children. Take lots of pictures of local children. Show their activities, play and what they have to deal with in their lives. Don’t take pictures of sad or impoverished, third world children unless you are a photojournalist with a news organization. And even then, don’t expect to sell many of these pictures. Instead, try to find, smiling, and happy children. If you can capture these children at play or engaging in activities unique to their local customs, all the better. Happy children sell photographs. Beaches. I am assuming of course that many of your buyers may be in the travel industry, so you can well understand how saleable beach photographs are. Scenic wonders. The more natural beauty you can shoot the better. If you can take a picture of the wondrous, multi-colored sunset, or the sharp spires of rock formations just off the coast, you will have some very profitable photographs. Dangerous local activities. For the same reason we rubberneck at a traffic accident in the opposite lane, people are fascinated by pictures of someone kissing a cobra, wrestling a crocodile, running through streets full of angry bulls or balancing on a tightrope. If you see such dangerous activities, take a picture. Local customs and local costumes. Readers of travel magazines are interested in what makes the people in other lands different from our own neighborhoods. Historic places. Photographs of the peaceful fields where the battle of Waterloo was fought, the ruin of an old medieval castle, or even the grave of Jim Morrison all hold fascination from a historical perspective. Tourist activities. Just the opposite of local customs, these activities are meant to entice tourists to come to enjoy sports like parasailing, or shooting through jungle trees on a zip line. If someone might be influenced by your picture to make travel plans to this place, you should be able to sell the picture to some publisher. Nightlife. Tourists don’t want to go to bed at eight when they are on vacation. Take pictures of the places they can go to and things they can do when they visit this destination. Places to shop. Another category of pictures that can entice visitors. After all, everyone wants to bring home a souvenir when they travel. Let your photograph show them where. Unusual signs. These are more common than you think, especially when someone with limited English is trying to communicate to travelers. Signs also give local flavor and add humor. Local foods. Can you take pictures of some of the exotic foods that are prepared in this destination? If your photograph looks scrumptious, it is saleable. Animals. Nothing sets the scene of a local place better than indigenous animals. If you can capture the animal’s beauty, your photo will be valuable.
In part two we will discuss how to make travel writing a profitable business you’re your next adventure vacation. And in part three, we will discuss importing products from overseas to be sold online through auction sites like eBay.

Dover to Calais Short Breaks Oct 19
Dover to Calais is one of the most popular ferry routes in Europe. It’s the shortest point between England and France, separated by a mere 33 kilometres, making it the quickest ferry journey from one country to the other. You can see Dover from Calais on a clear day. Both Dover and Calais offer a great short break and its location means you don’t even need to take time off for a weekend getaway.

Calais

Calais is a popular resort for cheap and short breaks from England, with it being easily accessible by both ferry and train. On a sunny day you can take a walk along the 8 kilometre cliff top and in the evening view a beautiful sunset over the sea. Calais offers nice weather, a beautiful location, historic buildings and a large shopping centre, making it an ideal place to visit for a weekend or week break.

The town centre is dominated by the lovely, distinctive Flemish-style town hall, a must-see for any tourist visiting Calais. In the gardens of the town hall stands “The Six Burghers” statue, serving as a monument to the Hundred Years’ War. Other landmarks to see in Calais include the Calais Theatre, Parc Richlieu Gardens, Notre Dame Church and the Watch Tower. There is plenty for tourists to visit when they come to this part of northern France.

On the outskirts of Calais (Coquelles) is the Cite Europe shopping centre, with its shops open Monday-Saturday and its restaurants and bars everyday you can find great fashion, gorgeous gifts, super sweets, the prettiest perfumes, exciting entertainment, sports, toys, divine restaurants and even a dry cleaner all under one roof!

Travelling from Dover

The Dover to Calais ferry journey is one of the quickest and cheapest you can make. With regular, daily, sailings you have the option of choosing a sailing time to suit you and not need to go out of your way to make it to the departure on time.

Travel Security And Safety Styles Oct 14
More and more people are traveling today and they are traveling to more and more exotic places. This is exciting and a lot of fun, but we still need to be aware of security issues and keep our passport and valuables safe when we’re away from home. Manufacturers are aware of the problems, and have designed many products to insure our security. I’m sure you are aware that money belts have been around since travel began. Only now, there are a huge array of types and styles to please every traveler. There are styles that go around the waist, and these are available with one pocket or two or three compartments.

There are also money belts that are worn around the neck this style is popular with woman. This style has a strap that can be adjusted to go around the neck or also go around the shoulder or waist depending on the type of clothing you are wearing. Another style of money belt can be worn around the leg. Additionally, there are models that look like an ordinary leather belt and have hidden zippers on the underside. These will only hold money and not hold a passport. Additionally, there’s a loop or clip style money belt that attaches to a belt and is worn under your clothing. All of these money belts are designed to be worn hidden away from view and not exposed in public. You’ll travel with many travel accessories, but money belts are the most important to use while traveling.

Travel vest with multiple inside pockets are an ideal way to carry your valuables. The zippered pockets are on the inside of the vest as well as on the outside. These can be worn by men and women, and give you a place for everything. They are lightweight and easily washable. My favorite style is from Zip It Gear, because this model will also fold into a travel pillow for you to use on planes or trains. With size and weight restrictions on air travel, it’s nice to have one item that is dual purpose. The vest will easily fit into your lightweight luggage that you take on the plane, bus or train. A new item is a travel scarf from Xubaz Cargo II Neckwear. It looks like a scarf, but this supremely functional travel garment has six hidden pockets to comfortably carry a variety of essential items. It easily holds your passport, boarding pass, cash, cards, and small electronic items like your phone or MP3 player. Two patented straps secure the Cargo II to your waistband.

Besides money belts, there’s a new product called Identification Express. These are available from Easy-go products in leather or fabric. They hold your driver’s license (photo ID), your boarding pass and your passport. These are designed to be worn over your clothing while boarding planes, boats and trains. Instead of searching for your identification papers when you go through different security check points, you wear the Identification Express or ID express cases on a string around your neck. These help you to sail through security quickly and efficiently. These cases keep you from fumbling or losing anything while searching for the necessary identification to go through security or board.

ID express cases are also practical and popular as corporate gifts. They can be monogrammed or silk-screened with company names or logos. The leather models can be individually monogrammed also. All of these described products can help you to travel safely and securely and make your trip more relaxed and enjoyable.

Why a Short Break Holiday Away from the Family May Lead to a Better Christmas for all Involved Oct 07
While it may seem like a case of “Bah Humbug”, the Christmas season can be a great time to actually get away from the family rather than being, as most product advertisers and marketing companies would have it, a time for the family to come together.

The may be many reasons at work when couples feel the need to make a short getaway at Christmas: often people find it difficult to decide which side of the family to visit for the traditional Christmas Day lunch, without causing offence to the other family; many wish to save on long distance travel in order for everyone to meet up for a few hours. But probably the biggest cause of frustration (excluding internal family differences) is the time and effort of general Christmas preparation: all of the organization, cooking and cleaning that needs to be executed within an overcrowded house, if the meal is to be a success. Sometimes it can become an extremely time consuming chore to simply try to get everything ready for the right time, and instead of everyone relaxing at Christmas, the day can quickly become one of frustration and overworking.

One solution that appears to be becoming more popular is the idea of going on holiday over the Christmas break period. Many firms have begun to offer short breaks in the UK and abroad over the festival time, and the idea of a short Xmas cruise is, for many, rapidly becoming the holiday of choice. These sorts of holiday options remove most of the pressures that the festive period can bring, as there is no decorating, cooking or cleaning to be done and entertainment is usually included as part of the short break holiday Christmas package, which allows everyone to truly get into the spirit of the occasion and enjoy quality time spent together.

The key to ensuring a successful Christmas holiday away is to ensure the travel, hotel accommodation and any additional entertainment is properly planned in advance. For anyone who wants to plan their own Christmas break, the need to arrange everything months ahead cannot be stressed enough, if travel departure times, ideal hotel rooms, and the entertainment of choice is to be guaranteed. This can all take time, but can also prove to be rewarding if everything turns out successfully. For people who do not have the luxury of time to complete all of the required research, and make all the necessary arrangements for their Christmas break far in advance of the Christmas holiday period itself, then they may want to consider other options, such as taking advantage of one the special offer Christmas and New Year packages available through many travel agents and online travel sites.
