10 Reasons to Holiday in New Zealand – Part 1 Oct 30
New Zealand is a small country of approximately 4 million people. It is made up of 2 main islands, the North Island, which contains the majority of the population and the South Island, which abounds with lush scenery. This is the ideal country for a holiday.

There are a multitude of airlines (approximately 45) that fly in to New Zealand these days. Most of them fly in to Auckland which is located towards the top of the North Island and is considered to be the gateway of the country. Auckland is by far the biggest city in New Zealand and has that big city feeling. Approximately one third of the whole population of New Zealand lives in the greater Auckland area. If you enjoy shopping, beaches or sailing, you could spend your whole time in Auckland, but although it is a beautiful city, there are many other special areas within New Zealand. There is an amazing diversity of scenery from beautiful beaches, ancient rain forests, stunning mountains, lakes, rivers and thermal activity to name just some of what you will see.

1. The people in New Zealand speak English which is a help if you are traveling from a western country. Generally speaking the people are also very friendly and will ensure your stay is very enjoyable. New Zealanders are very proud of their country and enjoy sharing the beauty and benefits of their country with others.

2. The exchange rate is favorable if you are coming over from Australia, UK, Europe and USA or almost any Western country. The shopping is very good particularly in the main areas such as Auckland, Wellington, (the capital of New Zealand situated at the bottom of the North Island) Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. New Zealand has some very talented and established fashion designers as well as some promising up and coming young designers.

3. Apart from Auckland which can be quite congested both with people and traffic, you will find that New Zealand is relatively quiet. If you choose to hire a car, the quiet roads will probably be appealing as it can be rather daunting driving in an unfamiliar country on very busy roads. Note that cars drive on the left hand side of the road in New Zealand. Just be sure to check out the road rules. They have a very peculiar give way rule which could prove to be a dangerous trap for the unwary.

4. One of the best reasons to visit New Zealand is because of the stunning scenery. Although the country is small, there is an incredible diversity to the scenery. There are some beautiful as well as rugged beaches, some amazing and almost prehistoric geo-thermal areas around Rotorua, stunning mountains, rain forests, great fishing in the many lakes and rivers, the most famous lake being Lake Taupo as well as the natural beauty of some of the towns and cities.

5. If skiing is your passion, there are a multitude of choices on both the North and South Island for the beginner through to the advanced skier. One of the nice things about a skiing holiday in New Zealand, particularly in the Queenstown area (located in the South Island) is the stunning views you have whilst skiing. There is a wide variety of accommodation options available close to skiing areas.

This is Part one of a two part article. Look out for Part 2 which is coming soon.

Cheap Holidays – Magaluf – Majorca Oct 20
With its beautiful beaches, amazing water sports facilities and lively nightlife; Magaluf is regarded as a perfect holiday destination for those looking for more than a lazy beach holiday in the sun.

Magaluf attracts over half a million visitors a year, the majority of these are the British 18-30 year old crowd who generally come for the infamous party atmosphere. There are many British Bars and clubs as well as restaurants serving British classics; although most opt for the Indian and Chinese, most things are directed towards British holiday makers.

There seems to be a lot to do when visiting Magaluf and not enough time to fit everything in. The beaches offering of water sports are particularly good. Visitors have the option of going snorkelling, scuba diving as well as jet skiing and wind surfing. If you are particularly good, there is also the chance to take part in competitions and organised games.

There is so much more to do in Magaluf away from the beaches. There is a vast range of activities for the whole family such as go carting, theme parks for children and cycling tours. If this is not enough; there is also the very popular Aqualand Magaluf water park which can be enjoyed by the whole family.

This fantastic holiday resort in Majorca is situated only 40 minutes from Palma airport and is able to provide hotels and other accommodation for all budgets. Some hotels cater for those looking for luxury accommodation, most hotels however take into account that the majority of holiday makers will be in their early 20’s. If you are looking to get a cheap holiday to Magaluf, there are many cheap inclusive packages available that will offer you great deals, thus saving you money in the long run. June is the best time to visit, but if you visit later in September, you will still get good sunshine and a cheaper deal.

Trading Glory for Dollars: The Art of Leading from the Back of the Room Oct 20
There is probably not another profession on the face of the earth more tailor-made for the “average person” to develop into a stage seeker than MLM. From the time you take your distributors to their first major event on (and perhaps even from the time you take them to their first business meeting), many of them begin to long for the moment when they can step up to the microphone. In fact, one the first declarations they make is, “Next year, I’m going to walk across that stage!”

There is something intoxicating to people about being center stage. Actually, I find it rather humorous that while I hear many people declare an aversion to speaking from the front of the room, it never seems to shorten the length of their remarks. In fact, sometimes the so-called terrified ones have to be cut off by the host of the program because they won’t shut up.

Although the lure of being on stage for money has a compelling charisma, I would list it as one of the most expendable activities for any leader wanting to make the big money. You may be wondering why I say that. It’s because your best money-making spot is the back of the room as you watch your leaders flock to the stage.

The more your leaders get to participate from the front of the room, the more momentum and enthusiasm they will have for the event. Incidentally, they almost never find fault with an event in which they are a major participant.

It is important to begin cultivating them for that leadership participation as soon as you sign them up. Begin in small groups, like at a home party or a small meeting. First, they need to observe you (or someone else) and ask questions. Then, you need to coach them for a small participation role. When they have successfully mastered a supportive part and have proven that they can manage the clock, you will want to give them their starting role chance.

I first heard this “lead from the back of the room” stuff from my husband Taylor back in 1986. I though, at the time, that perhaps it was overrated. I was confident back in my professional teaching days that a trained presenter would be hard to beat.

What I learned is that it’s not about “beating.” It’s about developing, encouraging, supporting, and envisioning. It’s about accepting standards, temporarily, that might drop a tad so that they can ultimately rise to a new level. This fits right in with Taylor’s motto: “We build the people, the people build the business.”

In December of 2002, Taylor and I decided to host a historic Leadership Summit meeting. We had 55 of our top leaders come in for a 72-hour marathon. It was one of our finest hours. After a Mexican fiesta dinner and a tour of our estate, we held a Vision Workshop. The breakthroughs that began to occur there are still unfolding. On Saturday, seven of our top leaders presented to the group. The afternoon culminated in a question and answer panel followed by an inspirational call to action. I’m sure the string of seven limousines we hired to carry us to a holiday party at the CEO’s estate added extra sparkle to the event – but we are still at a loss for words to describe the power of the entire experience.

“Leading from the back of the room” is what generated that winning format. It is also how you can get the most out of an event while observing the responses of the audience. I would encourage you to set your ego aside and build up those around you. You may not see your name on the program, but you’re more likely to see it on a bigger check.

I’ve always said if I can make at least $30,000 a month, I can get by. If you aren’t happy with where your leadership has taken you, try stepping out of it and passing the baton. Trading glory for dollars seems like a pretty fair trade to me.

Here are some tips for leadership development:

1. Set and live by high standards;

2. Be consistent;

3. Know your people;

4. Bring out the best in people;

5. Earn the respect of your team;

6. Delegate;

7. Build confidence by showing confidence;

8. Project positive expectancy;

9. Create team achievement;

10. Communicate enthusiastically;

11. Have a vision.

Remember Mary Kay’s National Sales Director, Luella Gunter’s famous words, “Ultimate success is the ability to inspire followers to become leaders.”

7 Reasons to Take Breaks at Work Oct 20
My job in Chicago began with three months of probation.

I was petrified to leave my desk.

The company provided us with two 15-minute breaks and a half hour
for lunch, but I wasn’t having any of it. I researched, wrote and edited at
full throttle, without interruption, eager to prove my capacity to produce.

After six weeks, my supervisor said my probation period was done, in
half the normal time. I was in!

But my body wasn’t happy. I had developed severe eyestrain. I had
constant headaches, and the muscles in my neck and upper back were
perpetually clenched. My stomach hurt from all the stress.

My heart wasn’t happy either, since I had never really spoken to any
of my colleagues for any length of time. The whole social dimension of
the job was missing.

But I had been too afraid take care of myself until I felt that my job was
secure.

Sound familiar? Fear is just one of the factors chain us to our desks.
Some of us have absorbed an ethic of overwork. Or, we feel pressure to
work efficiently so we can get home to our families.

But experts say taking breaks can improve health and AND make us
more effective on the job. Here are seven reasons to get up, stretch and
walk during working hours:

1. YOUR BODY WILL THANK YOU.

The human body wasn’t designed for sitting at a desk for hours on end.
Eyes, backs, necks, shoulders and wrists benefit when we get up and
move.

2. YOU’LL OPEN THE WAY FOR CREATIVITY.

Very, very few good ideas have ever come to me while I’m at my desk,
pushing myself to finish a project. Many ideas have come during walks
with my dogs, or while doing light housework. Other people get flashes
of inspiration while showering.

Something about physical activity seems to free the mind to create.

3. YOU’LL FIND OUT WHAT’S GOING ON AROUND YOU.

It’s amazing what you can learn about your workplace while chatting
with colleagues over coffee.

4. YOU’LL WORK MORE EFFECTIVELY.

“Work to Live” author Joe Robinson cites several studies showing
that breaks improve productivity. Short intervals for relaxation allow us to
sustain high levels of effort more of the time.

5. YOU’LL LIKE YOUR JOB MORE.

If we never pause to take stock, savor accomplishments, and maintain a
sense of fun, it’s hard to experience job satisfaction. Intense,
prolonged time on task can squeeze the joy out work.

“One of the downsides of being eternal action figures is that we never
arrive anywhere,” Robinson writes.

6. YOU’LL REAP THE BENEFITS OF BUILDING COMMUNITY.

Many of us were raised to think the workplace would reward hard work.
Then we were surprised to find that the workplace rewards people who
are well liked — regardless of whether they work the hardest.

When we take breaks for small talk, we give others a chance to know
and like us — and we can get to know and like them, too.

7. YOU’LL FEEL BETTER AT THE END OF THE DAY.

It’s a lot easier to enjoy family time when we come home with a reserve
of energy and without headaches or pent-up stress.

Sound too radical? It’s okay to start small. You might add a five-
minute break to your workday for a week or two and see what happens.

You may be surprised at the power of stopping to get you where you
want to go.

Travel Insurance – A Smart Investment Oct 09
Whether traveling in the United States or abroad it is considered a smart investment to purchase travel insurance. Purchasing travel insurance covers any financial expenses or losses incurred while traveling. Just knowing that you are insured offers you peace of mind and allows you to focus and enjoy you vacation or trip fully.

If you currently have some sort of insurance it is a good idea to check with your insurance policy or agent to inquire about what exactly is covered and the total distance that can be traveled and still be covered by your existing coverage. Simply knowing these facts can save you money when you go to purchase travel insurance.

The time of year and weather can affect your traveling plans and it is something that you may want to take into consideration. As you well know Mother Nature is very unpredictable and can cause travel delays and even cancellations of any and all forms of transportation. It is very important that you be able to cancel or delay your policy due to conditions that are beyond your control.

Insurance policies can also include such services as emergency evacuation due to a medical emergency, and emergency reunion coverage, which allows family members of the policyholder to be flown to where the policyholder is hospitalized. These services only cover emergency services abroad. The coverage stops once you arrive home.

When it comes to pre-existing conditions there are waivers that can apply for set periods of time you just need to be aware of it and be sure to cover this before you sign anything. It is also advisable to be aware that Medicare does provide benefits outside of the United States, and Medigap will only cover the first sixty days of emergency care outside of the United States. Illness and emergencies can happen at any time or place always check if the policy cover’s expenses such as prescriptions, doctor’s office visits and emergency rooms.

A subject that is very real and should be give great consideration is the state in which the world is in today. With the war, terrorists and not knowing where the next attack, bombing or kidnapping may take place it is vital that you know whether your policy covers such events. The simple knowledge of knowing you are financially covered no matter what happens will give you peace of mind.

While insurance is not something that someone thinks about when planning a vacation it is very important and should be considered an integral part of the planning. Travel insurance is designed to provide a policyholder with protection while away from home. It is meant to secure your health and well-being. Travel insurance don’t leave home without it.
